Hard Liquor
02:55
|
|||
Jimmy was sneezing, crying and didn’t know what to do
He told his single mother that he might have the flu
His mom told him to take a Johnny walk around the block
That peace’d only confront him once he overcame the shock
He had assumed that momma was right
Just a petite liquid burn would leave him painless through the night
Then…
Momma gave him hard liquor
Said if he didn’t drink, he would just get sicker
He stuck around mom’s house for a year or five
He had parties with jack and evan, they kept him alive
Momma kicked him in the head, said it’s time to find work
You’re nothing like me, you’re just a little jerk
But, mom, you have me hard liquor
Said if I didn’t drink, I would just get sicker
But he never graduated from Wilson High
To erase said mistake, he tested a sweaty night in sweaty july
He took that GED test and you can bet that he passed
and got a cubicle job where he could be drunk off his ass
the boss man invited him to his home
so he could chat with this genius all alone
he told him of mom’s childhood cure
and how he kept drinking everyday, just to make sure
but boss man loved jimmy’s success
so he went ahead with the move that he thought would be best
his boss gave him hard liquor
said if he didn’t drink he would just get sicker
his boss gave him hard liquor,
but it was in a port glass so it was fancier and slicker

Two Cabins
00:35
|
|||
Two cabins
Not one, but two
Two cabins
One for me, and one for you
Two cabins
to show you how I'm true
Two cabins
as symbols of what I will do
Two cabins
Not one, but two
Two cabins
One for me, and one for you

This Too Shall Pass
01:04
|
|||
he was a middle class boy
who wanted to move to the city
he was never one of the goys
but he refused any pity
the gifts at christmas time
would be the simple city lights
then, he could say that he was happy
assured and upright
he got a job at the theater
an apartment that was his
he would say he couldn't be happier
to feel the city wind's kiss
he would call himself independent
because he did things alone
but he dearly missed the suburban air
in this place he couldn't call home
one night he had too much to drink
in the company of his one man crew
of this loneliness, he started to think
something he said he'd never do
and so he took the kitchen knife
and dragged it across his flesh
hoping for the sweet release
that would make him forget
but it just hurt
the blood stared back
just lingering there
this red reflection so crass
where his cuts used to be
he has inscribed on his arm
permanent words in hebrew ink
that read "this too shall pass"

Lights off, Lights on
It’s no more than simple electricity
It won’t reveal anything
Nothing you didn’t see already
Brake, Accelerate
It’s no more than simple speed
It won’t get you anywhere
where you couldn’t have gone with the sheer power of your will
Fire, Reload
It’s no more than simple death
It would never kill a single man
Who wouldn’t have died by his own hand
Breathe, Suffocate
It’s too late
To prove, to sickness, the truth
The looming tragedy of self written youth.

I'm Not Human
05:12
|
|||
If I had eyes in the back of my head,
I'd keep them shut
Cause I've seen enough and I've had enough
But if I could see
from your point of view
then maybe there's a place for me
A place to be proud of
For everytime I step out of that door
someone in the world gets badly hurt
And everywhere I look is made a mess
I'm not sure if it was me or them
Either way it's safe in this armored car
Where I'm free to see the world as I imagine it
But I gotta get out for a little fresh air
But when I do I'll suffocate to death
I'm not human

On the Evening Train
02:32
|
|||
red rum, red rain
on the evening train
buncha good folks
hopin’ it won’t come agin
lotta hurt, lotta shame
for the evening train
buncha hopeless folks
wanna never feel pain
no god had cam
to tha evening train
buncha god fearin’ folks
will neva toast tha same
boom boom, bang bang
cover tha evening train
goodbye you folks
see ya on memory lane
i died last night on the evening train
all i wanted was to stop the pain
but keeps coming again and again
looked like i would always feel the same
do anything but a follower of the pack
i felt the blood, i wanted that
on the pristine tracks and make heart attacks
fuck this world, i won’t come back

kelly kane called my name
and i came running
kelly kane called my name
and i drew the curtain
she said "come outside i'm glad you don't call me because otherwise i'd find you annoying and i've left all those beggars behind and i got something that'll blow your mind"
she opened her stomach
and let me peer in
i saw only apple cores and earthworms
crawlin
she said "men aren't worth the piss they're filled with, so i douse them in rum, drink the remainder and set them aflame, at least, then, they're fun. so fun."
i drew my head out
and said "what were ya saying?"
she laughed and said
"oh it was nothing, just nothing"
we sat there setting our brains on fire and vowed to stay 'til we both expired

Because I Can
02:19
|
|||
“Because I Can”
said the man
with sweat dripping down his brow
and blood out his mouth
though he hated the words he uttered
his mouth had a mind of its own
a trait that was shown
much earlier this performance
“the first act was great”
said the critics
“we just cannot wait
for the sequel”
one reviewer was so displeased
that he took his pen and slashed his knees
“I knew I would hate this” he said
“much earlier this performance”
needless to say
that was closing night
protesters gathered
what a sight
to put this critic on trial
what a show
he gunned them all down
row by row
Protesters’ parents
Came to gather them all
Came to scrape the
corpses off of the walls
They came to apologize
To the critic
He scowled and said
That he’d never forget it

There Laid Rex
06:20
|
|||
no one came home this year
they had no reason
even the season
no one wanted to be with him
it seemed that they had saved her
only made it longer, more painful
so he sat there
two woods burning
realigning his hair
he filled both flames
as he waited for the family
that never came
there laid rex, wagging his tail
they both inhaled
